Ella and Jake's Polhawn Fort Wedding
Hi Gang, you probably got to this page because you're looking for a wedding photographer at Polhawn Fort, or maybe you searched for a Cornwall wedding photographer, or you may follow me on Instagram and you swiped up. All I can say is however you found me I'm glad you're here. Below, I'm going to tell you a little about me, weddings at Polhawn Fort and Jake and Ella's wedding on the Cornish coastline.
Firstly, for all new here, I'm James Fear (real surname promise). I am a wedding photographer and my studio is in Cheltenham spa in the heart of the Cotswolds. Over the years wedding photography has taken me all over the UK and much of the world too. Today, wedding photography has taken me to Polhawn Fort at Rame Head on the jaw-dropping Cornish coastline.
A little about weddings at Polhawn Fort
Polhawn Fort was new to me, I knew Ella and Jake from a previous wedding I photographed and all I knew was they searched quirky wedding venue and they found Polhawn Fort and fell in love...
The truth is, after a bit of research there is more to Polhawn Fort than meets the eye. Firstly, Polhawn Fort was recently voted ‘The Most Romantic Wedding Venue in the UK’, which is always fab for weddings but the setting and the history is what sets it apart from any other wedding venue in the UK.
It’s an actual Napoleanic fort, built in 1867 to fend off Napoleon III. It’s been a wedding venue for the past 20 years but still looks like the real deal with its cannon, drawbridge, and eight feet thick walls. The drawbridge leads you into the fort where you head down spiral granite staircases into the beautiful Grand Napoleanic Hall. Honestly, it's absolutely unbelievable really! The vaulted ceilings, exposed brick interior and the views of the sea when you look out the windows will blow anyone's mind.
Jake and Ella had exclusive use of the venue (as well as a private beach!) how cool is that!
Since Ella and Jake's wedding, I have had a few people ask me what happens in the winter... Well, the choice is yours, get married in the Grand Hall – perfect for cooler weddings, with its cosy log fire and the castle-like environment – or take advantage of the beautiful views and have your ceremony outside in the Summer House.
Wedding Photography at Polhawn Fort
As a party boy, I love the sun, sea and sand vibe, Polhawn Fort sums up sun, sea and sand to me. They're such a cool venue they even can provide you with garden games and beach cricket.
One thing I would want at my wedding would be my beloved woofer Noodle there. That dog, I love her to bits and back. Polhawn Fort is pet-friendly and that team is rare. As you can tell I am a big fan of the wedding venue!
My favourite part of Polhawn Fort, however, is its dramatic location - you want a decent backdrop for piccies team. This is it. Among the best in the UK No doubt. The Rame Peninsula (I'd never heard of it before the wedding if I am being honest!) is unspoilt and Polhawn’s character, extensive grounds and private beach means there’s so much opportunity for the best wedding ever. I mean that wholeheartedly. One in a million.
What makes the perfect set of wedding pictures? For me: fun, energy, lightheartedness and backdrop to die for.

Thank you for dropping by team,
James
